Alan Grieve

Alan Grieve, a hairdresser for 25 years graduated in 2008 from MFA – he continued to cut hair throughout all his studies. For his Nine Trades of Dundee commission he was based for one day a week in Nori Salon in Dundee. His ‘comment of the week’ wall in the salon, where he displayed glossy poster artworks relating to conversations with his colleagues allowed for a continued dialogue with colleagues and clients alike, offering a weekly insight into his thoughts in the form of one or more drawings/illustrated texts. From this exchange he is creating a magazine with his colleagues that has been distributed through salons throughout Dundee.

The project took place between July 2009 and July 2010.
